We were commissioned by Royal Mail to design a set of Special Stamps and collectibles to celebrate 75 years of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts.
The brief challenged us to put a British slant on the unique Peanuts sense of humour – instead of his usual red doghouse, Snoopy sleeps atop a red Royal Mail pillar box. Lucy and Linus build a seaside sand sculpture that suspiciously resembles Windsor Castle. Schroeder plays Elgar’s ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ on his piano.
We wanted the classic Peanuts charm to shine through, from the distinctive pen line to the wobbly type for the stamp value based on Schulz’s handwriting.
